I started reviewing whiskey in 2020. Initially I sought out the kinds of things my friends might want to try, and quickly moved to seeking the unique and interesting. I’m a huge fan of American Single Malt Whiskey and focus my efforts on this space. I also enjoy Single Malts from around the world, as well as a little of everything else, including Bourbon, Rum, Brandy, Mezcal, and more.

I host an ASMW-focused podcast, called Single Malt Frontier. I’m conducting research for a book on American Single Malt Whiskey by tasting lots of ASMW and interviewing ASMW producers and other relevant industry personalities, which I release on the podcast. I also created the subreddit /r/AmericanSMW for reviews and discussion of ASMW, and I moderate an online community of whiskey enthusiasts, The Whiskey Lodge.

Why “DemiTastes”? I’ve been using names starting with “Demi” since forever, so when I noticed my habit of pouring what seemed to be the smallest drams around the web, and the obvious pun with the small espresso cup called a demitasse, I decided that the name “DemiTastes” only made sense.
